Having been part of the playtesting group that helped make this I feel proud to tell you that is the best version so far. There is nothing I do not like about and has taken me back to one of my favourite things, list noodling!, the only downside to this book is that if you didn't get the free mini one you'll have to wait until March to get the full set.

Not to worry though the game itself hasn't changed it's still grown men gathered around a table making tank noises and artillery whistles they've just taken all the dumb stuff out added some awesome easy to follow graphics. For new players and old players alike this, I think, will bring more players to the game.

Battlefronts new bases

I purchased some of these new BF bases the other day I thought they'd be a great time saver and to a certain degree they are. However you will need to increase the hole size or file down the base. After a few hours I was completed a few pigments here and there and they're complete

Hobby Scenics E Z Water. I tried this stuff out the other night following the instructions unfortunately it's not as free flowing as I'd like and it's the colour of honey it looks very fake I wouldn't reccomend it.

I've recently discovered Malifaux it's a Victorian, Western, Horror & Steampunk game instead of dice it uses cards I find it more relaxing than trying to dick over your opponent with rules ala Warmachine. It's less expensive than most other games as you only require a gang I think I've spent $50 so far and have what I need.

I'd recommended this game to anyone looking for a fun skirmish game I learned most of the rules between having my ass handed to me playing Flames of War.

I've chosen the Witch hunters pack to start with and I'm just taking mt time with them.

Well that's over for another year I sort of regret not playing as photographing, judging painting,chatting and general wandering did a number on my legs. Anyways flames was well run and the tables where very nice when compared with other systems, hell the folks playing the spaceship game didn't iron their galaxy/blac bedsheet, I would really have liked to play but didn't have the army I wanted ready in time. Anyways next stop is Equinox with some Soviets....

Earlier on when I wanted something awesome for my Field of Glory Swiss I turned to Khurasan Miniatures and they set me up with an awesome command stand for my Swiss (see the archive) unfortunately I'd already brought the rest of the toys elsewhere.

Rallypoint 2010

So last weekend my flatmate and I trundled down to Hamiltron ,city of the future, to Rallypoint usually I'd play Flames but couldn't be arsed so I spent the day/s taking pictures while Chris played Warmachine and did surprisingly well for a newish player anyways lots of pretty puctures were taken here are just a few.

Well it's obvious to me that this GT I just couldn't be f*cked and the results ,57th out of 58 players, speak for themselves I'm not going to blames the tables, the army or my dice I just wasn't feeling it at the tourney I felt rushed that and I didn't have the opportunity to play with the army I wanted. So now that's all over I can concertrate on taking my time painting and blogging.

I've spent the last couple of days around the home in a panadol and codral induced stuper however in this time I've managed to learn the basics of photoshop so my pictures should start to look better. I haven't painted anything but that'll change by the end of the day....

Well the last of my shipments arrived last night and there is alot of junk I'm going to be epicly busy painting swiss I'm gonna go crazy and major kudo's to Khurasan miniatures your minis are some of the best looking most dynamic 15's I've every seen. The rest of the order is Old Glory 15's as i found Khurasan after I placed my order /cry. Anyways I've got a lot of painting to do pics soon!

From time to time I get carried away with hobbies everything from Victory at Sea to Necromuda and usually I thow a link into my blogroll or Stores and shops section without actually telling you anything about them well it's time to start reviewing.......

First up is Khurasan Miniatures a recent foray into Field of Glory and purchase of a zillion Swiss halberdier's unfortunately I'd already ordered them from Warweb.com. However I needed HQ units and Khurasan delivered...

They also do a wide range of uncommon historical ranges, sci-fi and fantasy ranges. They maybe a little more pricey than others but that's what quality miniatures demand.

No real news here just being my regular self and working on 1000 projects at once so far I've started the German T-34 Company below only to find it's flaws (not enough tanks). Gained a side interest in Field of Glory so been trying to play the Di Vinici code with the rules. Made a promise to attend NiCon, Royal Oak Represent, but after many hours of pondering I've decided that I will take Panzer brigade 150.....More to come about this super secret project later.

With the release of a bridge too far I went looking for textured card or plastic to represent fanned cobblestones and do you think for the life of me I could find any? Hell no! However in the back of a bridge too far they have a guide on how to make fanned cobblestone streets.

So armed with my greenstuff, a mini screwdriver and some patience (once you get a rythm going it gets really easy to do)

You can see the once I did at midnight it's a bit messy but a good first attempt if I do say so myself.

Now to put some brit para's in them....

The SS T-34 that almost didn't happen

Ever since the Flames of War book Hitlers Fire Brigade, I've wanted to run the captured T-34 company in there a couple of things stopped me 1: The points cost twas waaaaaaaay to expensive and 2: These tanks were part of the Waffen SS but weren't rated as such.

Now with the release of Battlefronts East Front book the T-34 Company is ready to destroy it's previous owners.

However this is the tale of how mine almost never happened I had hand painted the tank russian green then added splotches of Khaki grey after my Dunklgrab colour turned out so bad I almost scrapped the whole project but though "No, I can fix this" so out with my trusty Tamiya Sprayworks and tamiya German yellow a little more tamiya pigments (similar to that Mig wash stuff), also if I say Tamiya 3 more times they'll send me a free tank lol,and now I present you the results.

Cowboys

Some of the guys over at tabletop terain were discussing the game Legends of the Old West after themselves playing a bit of gutshot they developed a Cowboy fetish. Announcing 2010 Year of the Cowboy proptly followed by hours of playing with each other on the X-Box. As I don't have an x-box I managed to paint up some cowboys. The mini's are from Wargames Foundry Wild West range.

Wow that year went fast but it did not slow me down during the course of the year I've painted a Hungarian Tank company, US Armoured Rifle Company, SS Panzer Company, Stug Battery and to finish off the year two commissions a DAK Panzer Kompanie and Australian Div. Cav and a Grant Company for myself.

Should be an exciting year next year with Early War coming out the new East Front book crazy army ideas other games and bloody video games ahhh lifes awesome...

Firestorm round two, fight!

Yes the Soviet swine have been pushed back and all thanks to 4 Stugs that's right we played breakthough and all I got was 4 measly Stugs and they were up against 10 t34's 5 of them the 85 models and 4 KV-85 and limited Stormovics.

I held out until 4 Horniss appeared and cleaned up the big tanks but cudos go to the 4 very lucky Stugs taking out 10 t34s for no loss.

I played my first round in a Firestorm campaign yesterday I took my list from Stalins Onslaught I stomped on and mercilessly crushed into dust.

Gavin and I played encounter and he had something along the lines of 15 t34/85 with Dedov and 6 IS-2 and to top it all off bonus air support needless to say my Nashorns couldn't bail an IS to save themselves and the tigers got wiped out by air, at least the Stugs hung in there. Maybe next time eh? The list i used is below.

I was travelling the tubes as I do looking for wargaming bargins, plans ideas etc etc and I happened apon a site I visited many moons ago. Back when I first visited there wasn't much there however it seems to have a lot of that good stuff it also has discounted Warhammer and free freight on orders over $75.00NZD. I'm going to go over to Tabletop Terrain and point this find out. You'll also find Imperial Games has wide range of Warhammer, Terrain, CnC'ed thingies at decent prices. I'd like to see a bit more 15mm terrain but that's just me enjoy.

ARRrrrghhH!!! A modelling and wargaming malaise has decended apon me I find myself suckered into a deal which turned out to be more bullshit than a deal. Vagabonds in Auckland stated that if you purchase $300 worth of Warhammer you will get $500 worth of Wahammer 40K I thought to myself this is madness, un-economical in this recession crazed time. So I asked the wee man manning the stand at Aucklands' only wargaming convention Battlecry and Myself and two other keen friends asked if we could do this in store thus avoiding the whole waiting on the internet (The offer stated it was online only but I want toys now now now) he said yes. Excellent I thought to myself then we came back and asked the wee man if it could be any 40k of our choice (not wanting to end up with $500 worth of Dark Eldar) once again the answer was yes.

A deal too good to true that day me a two friends set fourth to cash in on this deal apon entering the store we went about purising the shelves building up $300 dollars worth of Warhammer. Then we though why not consult the other wee man behind the counter just incase he was unaware of the deal. Well not only was new wee man unaware of the actual deal but he also stated it was an internet only deal, awwww WTF I've never seen 3 grown men do the sad pouty face, anyways after a few moments of sadfaces he called over another wee man whom I can assume was the boss. We explained how the original wee man had promised us the world blah blah story above anyways after a while the boss relented and said he'd do the deal in store sweet we though at this stage one of my friends already pulled out as they didn't stock enough of what he wanted. We made our purchases and rubbed our hands greedly preparing to recieve our choice of $1000 worth of 40K to which we were thwarted when we were told that we would be getting 2 boxes from the assault on black reach box set , which as the boss man stated "Contains $500 worth of Warhammer", WTF if contains rubbish two piece click together crap bah f**k this sh*t, typical BS promised the world by a pleb and shot down by the owner. I no longer shop at Vagabonds and if you need Warhammer sruff I suggest you use Scrap Dragon there in the links and Model Air for your flames of war needs.

Inks and washes

After spending years trying to come up with the right formula for a magic wash it seems Games Workshop have come up with a fantastic range of washes these not only work well on 28mm but do just as good on 15mm the colours available are Asurmen Blue, Baal Red, Badab Black, Devlan Mud, Leviathan Purple, Ogryn Flesh, Gryphonne Sepia and Thraka Green.

Although you'll probably only going to need a couple of colours for WW2 miniatures like Badab Black (Creates a dark grey colour) and Devlan Mud (a deep brown suitable for desert or light colured vehicles) .

Even if you're not a fan of GW definately give these wash a go money well spent much better than playing Alchemist at home trying to mix up the right magic wash.
