Product Review : Battlefield in a Box Shattered Battlefield

While picking up Battlefield in a Box: Large Craters and Ruined House I got myself a a Shattered Battlefield. This box like the previous one was designed for use with the Great War supplement which as you know is designed to be played on a smaller table. I will most likely (read as I will) be using to supplement my already quite large terrain collection.

I like this set because it adds a bit more variety to the battlefield than just complete forests and happy wheat fields. The shattered woods and muddy ground should create a hazard for tanks and some concealment for infantry.

Just looking at the box and looking at what's inside it seems you get 4 shattered woods and muddy grounds and as I'm writing this I had an idea. If you were lucky enough to get BF's pine forests or a set of the plentiful autumn woods you can take one of the trees out of the set and add one of the shattered wood (We generally count everything on the brown oval things as forest) thus stretching your forests even further and saving you money to buy more tanks.

Product Review: Battlefield in a box Large Craters and Ruined House

I recently picked up a bit more terrain for my WW2 collection it may be designed with WW1 in mind but a crater is a crater and I'd imagine European architecture didn't change much from 1914 - 1945 so the ruined building fits in really well.

So what does your $29 USD get you? Two craters and a ruined house and two baggies with flock and grass (I never use these I have about 50 or so little baggies around the house) and all pre-painted and it's done pretty nicely. The ruined building fits in well with the building that came with the old Jagdpanther box.

Overall it's cheap and ready to go straight away and as WW1 is played on a smaller table this is a good value product for WW2 I'd suggest picking up 3 or 4 of them if only for the ruined buildings.

MOAR THINGS

Day 2 of FlamesCon and it's over for another year and I came somewhere near the bottom :P but on my downward spiral I caught sight of some other new things (the benefit of a quick game is all the mucking around time/angel of death I get to do between games) anyways stupid me forgot my camera but Greg was on hand with his i-Thingee and emailed me some pics.

Corrections: Yesterday I advised that the tanks and the crewmen were being made by the same place that does Perry mini's however it is just the crewman/commanders the tanks are made by a third party.
